This project aims to implement electromyography, or EMG, control on a prosthetic arm. All the prosthetic arms available in the market are not capable of being controlled for heavy lifting operations. In this project, we aim to control a prosthetic arm using pneumatics. The control will be executed using an Arduino board and an EMG sensor. There is a need to control the pressure applied to each finger. The control of various solenoid valves for the respective fingers, the sequencing operation of fingers, and the EMG signal-based control will be the major challenges throughout the project. Electromyography (EMG), which measures muscle activation via electric potential, has traditionally been used for medical research and the diagnosis of neuromuscular disorders. However, with the advent of ever-shrinking yet more powerful microcontrollers and integrated circuits, EMG circuits and sensors have found their way into prosthetics, robotics, and other control systems.
