Pineapple Sapling Winding Machine

The Sapling Winding Machine will help to hold together the bundle even by female workers. It makes bundles more compact thereby making transportation easier and economical.

Pineapple cultivation is presently cultivated over an area of 12500ha in Kerala alone and the rate of cultivation is increasing every year either as an intercropor by taking land as lease. The cultivation is carried out by rationing with the help of available ground suckers from matured plants. Suckers are plucked, stacked into bundles, tied manually and then transported for replanting. Since suckers are transported in bundles it must be pressed down and held together before tying. This is very tedious process thus makes it possible only to the male workers and yet only an average of 75bundles made per day per worker. The Sapling Binging Machine will help to hold together the bundle even by female workers leaving behind only the tying process. It attaches Socio– Economic Importance:

i. With reduced effort the machine can also assist women to be employed in the cultivation.

ii. During our field test 36.67% time was saved when bundles were made using the machine, thus the involvement of the machine reduced effort and increased productivity and profitability at the same time.

iii. As bundles become more compact when machine wound profits, thereby making transportation easier and economical.
